Tournament style
The Alpenfestung is played as a so-called Round Robin Tournament. That means, there are always four players, who play against each other in three rounds of face-to-face games. The player who wins most of his three games wins the tournament.

As you can see in the program, Alpenfestung XVI will be a three-round tournament. Scenarios will vary in size, but I aimed for a maximum total playing time (excluding setup) of 16:00 hrs. during two days.
First round: Fortitude and Frostbite: Swedish Volunteers
I. Ten-Ton Tank. Swedish vs. Russians. February, 1940. 4.5 Turns. (2:50 hrs.)
II. Absolut Märkäjärvi. Swedish vs. Russians. March, 1940. 5.5 Turns (3:40 hrs.)
III. The Swedish Voluntary Corps. Swedish vs. Russians. March, 1940. 5.5 Turns. (4:00 hrs.)
Second round: Shattered Peace: Poland's Darkest Hour
I. A Polish Requiem. Germans vs. Polish. September, 1939. 6.0 Turns. (5:40 hrs.)
II. Along the Vistula. Germans vs. Polish. September, 1939. 6.5 Turns. (7:00 hrs.)
III. Round One. Germans vs. Polish. September, 1939. 7.0 Turns. (7:30 hrs.)
Third round: Red Storm Rising: Russia's Last-minute Offensive
I. A War of their own. Russians vs. Japanese. August, 1945. 5.5 Turns. (4:20 hrs.)
II. Forging Spetsnaz. Russians vs. Japanese. August, 1945. 6.0 Turns. (4:50 hrs.)
III. The deadly Line. Russians vs. Japanese. August, 1945. 5.5 Turns. (5:40 hrs.)

Feel free to study the maps and units that show up in the scenarios. But please - don't play the scenarios in advance (including solitaire). Also, don't check any LOS or write down setups. It's no problem, of course, if you have played any of the scenarios in the past.
The 'classic' IFT is the standard results table that is used at Alpenfestung tournaments unless both players of a particular pairing agree to use the IIFT. You can download the 3.6 version of the IIFT in Black & White (.pdf, 143kB) and in Colour (.pdf, 139kB) here.
